The Congress has released the names of 48 candidates so far for the 70 seat Delhi Assembly elections including Alka Lamba who will contest against Chief Minister Atishi from the Kalkaji seat. Congress also fielded ex-MP Sandeep Dikshit who is up against Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Bharatiya Janata Party's Parvesh Verma from the New Delhi seat.
The Election Commission of India has not officially declared the dates for the Delhi polls but as per reports, the polls will tentatively take place in February 2025.
Even though Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are part of the INDIA bloc they decided to run solo for the polls this time.
The grand old party released its first list of candidates on December 13 where they named Dikshit, Congress chief Devender Yadav from Badli, ex-Delhi minister Haroon Yusuf from Ballimaran, ex-Delhi Congress chief Chaudhary Anil Kumar from Patparganj.
In its second list of candidates, the party revealed that it has fielded Farhad Suri against AAP's Manish Sisodia from Jangpura. Ex-AAP MLA Asim Khan, who joined Congress recently, has been given a ticket from Matia Mahal, and Devinder Sehrawat has been fielded from Bijwasan.
The Congress in its third list announced Alka Lamba's name only.
