The Regional Trial Court Branch 112 in Pasay City ordered the immediate release of actress Neri Naig, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed.

BJMP spokesperson Insp. Jayrex Joseph Bustinera reported that the bureau received the order from the court on Wednesday morning.

According to Bustinera, BJMP is verifying whether Naig has pending cases or arrest warrants from other courts before allowing her release.

“If cleared, we will process the release within the day, as soon as possible,” he said in a radio interview also on Wednesday morning.

Additionally, the BJMP spokesperson said Naig’s camp did not post bail despite being accused of syndicated estafa, a non-bailable offense, clarifying that her provisional freedom was at the order of the court.

Bustinera, however, was not at liberty to discuss the contents of the trial court’s release order.

On top of syndicated estafa, Naig is also accused of violations of the securities law.

She was arrested on November 23 and then detained at the Pasay City Jail female dormitory.

The actress-businesswoman, however, was brought to the hospital for “medical evaluation” on November 29 and was expected to be discharged by Wednesday, December 4.

The arraignment for her alleged security violations was rescheduled to January 9, 2025, after Naig’s camp filed a motion to quash.

She is the wife of Parokya ni Edgar lead vocalist Chito Miranda.

Miranda defended his spousesuper game, saying she was only an endorser of Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Ventures, the company named in the case.
